About
Inspired by a trip to Iceland; the sublime Icelandic winter landscape with expanses of snow and ice glistening under the moon and sunlight.
Colours for this reimagined landscape have been drawn from the blue/grey hues of the sky and ice; Wedgewood blue, buff titanium and graphite powder were used to evoke the serene mood of the morning moon as the light changed to sunrise, with the graphite powder being reminiscent of the distinctive Icelandic black sand.
Inspiration has also been taken from the Japanese woodblock printmaking art movement known as Shin-hanga (New prints), which merged together Ukiyo-e traditions from the East with European influences. You can read more about the inspirations behind Moon Over The Plain here.
This contemporary Japanese style circular landscape art print on Somerset Soft White Satin paper, hand pulled by the artist in her Brighton printmaking studio, is the second print in this series that complement each other when hung together. The other artworks are Moonlight Through The Trees and Midsummer Moon.
“The picture arrived safely! It’s beautiful, like the last one I ordered!”
Franziska, Germany
“I bought two beautiful prints from Sherrie via Instagram and they were very quickly shipped to me. I can’t wait to get them hung on the wall. Thank you!”
